About department

The department of Ukrainian Studies was founded in July, 2002. There are 4 specialized classrooms at the department: those of Business Ukrainian, Ethnology, History of Ukraine, History of Culture - all supplied with TV- and video equipment.
 



Disciplines of the Department:

• the Ukrainian language (of professional orientation), History of Ukraine, History of the Ukrainian Culture are taught to the 1-year students of all faculties in specialities “General Medicine”, “Paediatrics”, “Clinical Pharmacy”, “Dentistry” (the language of instruction is Ukrainian and Russian)

• History of Ukrainian Culture for students of International medical faculty (the language of instruction is English).
 



Basic directions of the department activities

1. Scientifical and methodical work.

The teachers of the department provide the educational process with the necessary methodical literature (manuals, methodical course books).

Apart from work with students of all faculties, the department participates in different kinds of activities, including:

• preparing the university applicants for entrance exams, conducting examination in Ukrainian at postgraduate courses of CSMU;

• conducting annual courses in Ukrainian for the university staff;

• arranging consultations as for edition of scientific literature in the Ukrainian language;

• reviewing scientific articles;

• conducting examination in Ukrainian and issuing certificates to foreign citizens about the language-mastering level for receiving the Ukrainian citizenship.

2. Educational work.

The department of Ukrainian Studies is the center of formation of national consciousness, upbringing of respect, love to history, language and traditions of Ukraine, love to native Crimean land.
 



    Scientific Work:

 The lecturers of the department supervise the research work of students for participating in research-to-practice conference.

 1 doctoral and 2 Candidate's dissertations are being written:

1. Sugrobova Julia Yurievna works on doctoral thesis on the theme “Cultural creative work as a factor of consolidation of polyethnic society of Ukraine under present-day conditions”.

2. Samsonova Yelena Vasilievna works on Candidate's dissertation on the theme “Phraseological units with the component of plant name in the Ukrainian language (ideographic aspect)”.

3. Karpova Irina Danilovna works on Candidate's dissertation on the theme “Implicit negation in the Ukrainian phraseological speech”.

The department carries out researches in the direction ”A Human in the XXI century” – a common theme for departments of humanitarian cycle.

Since 2007 the department of Ukrainian Studies has been co-operating with the Institution of Advanced Training of government employees in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
