Historical Background
Teaching Clinical Pharmacology as an independent discipline has been carried out since 1982, when the department of pharmacology of pediatric faculty with the course of clinical pharmacology was founded.The first head of the department was Professor Beketov A.I. From 1999 to 2005 the course of Clinical Pharmacology was included into the list of disciplines of the department of clinical immunology and allergology. The head of the course was associate professor Konyaeva Ye.I. From 2005 to 2006 the department of clinical pharmacology, pharmacotherapy and pharmacy was organized where the teaching of 11 theoretical and clinical disciplines was carried out including the course of Clinical Pharmacology. From September 2006, due to opening the Pharmaceutical faculty, the department was reorganized into the department of clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy. For the period of department existence its members have issued 2 textbooks on clinical pharmacology for students of higher schools and doctors, “Pharmacotherapeutic Reference Book of a Family Doctor”; 7 manuals for teaching clinical pharmacology in specialities “Therapy”, “Paediatrics”, “Obstetrics and Gynaecology”, “Stomatology”; test collection in Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy, collection of situational problems in Clinical Pharmacology; 6 guides to pharmacotherapy of different diseases for practical doctors.
Disciplines of the Department:

Clinical Pharmacology – is taught to 4-year students of pharmaceutical faculty, 5- year students of 1, 2 medical and international faculties, 1-year residents (clinical interns), bachelors.

Pharmacotherapy - to 4-year students of pharmaceutical faculty

Pharmaceutical Care – to 5-year students of pharmaceutical faculty
The department is responsible for practical training on clinical pharmacology and pharmaceutical care at the pharmaceutical department.
Scientific Work:
The theme “Pharmacotherapy Safety: Clinical and Pharmacological Analysis of Pharmacodynamics, Side-Effect, Interaction of Medicines; Population Researches” was approved at the department and the code of state registration received. The theme was endorsed by the leading clinical pharmacologists of Ukraine. Actually all the members of the department constantly carry out the research work on this theme; they publish articles, theses, make reports at conferences, symposia, congresses held both in the region and Ukraine.
Students’ Scientific Circle:
Assistant Koval Yelena Alexandrovna is in charge of work of students’ scientific circle. The students of pharmaceutical, 1st and 2nd medical faculties participate in the work of the circle.
